GRIDLEY,
CA (MPG) - The Gridley girls basketball program is hosting their annual
basketball tournament in the Lady Bulldogs Holiday Classic this weekend which
began Thursday and concludes this Saturday, December 2nd.
The tournament features a six-team bracket where Alhambra, Oroville, Enterprise, Woodland, Eureka and Gridley will battle it out on the hardwood for the three-day festivities.
Each team is guaranteed three games in the tournament as they were scheduled games for Thursday and today. The games for tomorrow will be based on how the teams performed the win and losses from the previous two games.
According to the information shared with the Herald from Lady Bulldogs head coach Becca McCray, if there is a tie to be broken, it would be based on the points allowed in the first two tournament games.
The Lady Bulldogs bring back five returners from the 2022-23 roster including last season’s leading scorer (16.6 points per game), rebounder (10.2/rpg) and shot-block-machine (4.6) junior center Brook Marr.
Along with Marr, Gridley has senior guard AnaGloria Luevano returning as she was third on the team last season in assists (1.3) and second in steals (1.5).
Marr and Luevano each scored in double figures in the Lady Bulldogs 51-30 victory over Willows on November 21.
