GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Operation Christmas Child, part of the Samaritan’s Purse project to send gifts to children in areas of need this holiday season, is beginning its collection phase.

Manned by the First Baptist Church, Gridley’s OCC collection begins next week. Shoeboxes can be dropped off on the following dates and times at the church located at 100 Vermont St. Monday, Nov. 13: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Tuesday, Nov. 14: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Wednesday Nov. 15: 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Thursday, Nov. 16: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Friday, Nov. 17: 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Saturday, Nov. 18: 2:00-4:00 pm. Sunday, Nov. 19: 12:00 – 2:00 pm. Monday, Nov. 20: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

To participate, simply pack a shoebox sized box or tote full of small toys. OCC suggests items such as dolls, combs, jump ropes, balls and pumps to inflate them, games and more. Simply pay the small shipping and handling fee of $10 to cover mailing costs as gifts are sent worldwide.
