Updates from GUSD School Board Meeting

At the October 4 meeting of the GUSD Board, members voted to approve tentative
agreements with the Gridley Teachers Association to raise wages for current certificated,
full-time employees, to the tune of 6% (retroactive to July 1, 2023); another
increase of 3% is to be expected July 1, 2024. Select extra duty stipends were
instituted or adjusted.
Board members also voted to increase school psychologist salaries by 4.3% for the 2023-24 school year, with an expected additional increase of 3% for the 2024-25 school year.
The GUSD School Board is accepting applicants for a provisional appointment as a School Board Member. Brandon Oakley, who has served as a GUSD Trustee since 2018, has resigned. Superintendent Justin Kern expressed thanks for Brandon’s years of dedicated service to the Board.
Applications will be accepted until October 20, at which time candidates will be interviewed and a selection made. The notice of vacancy and application for interested parties are available online at the district website at www.gusd.org
On October 18, just prior to the next board meeting, the first district meeting on curriculum for the current school year was to take place at the district office. Adoption of new K-12 English Language Arts curricula is the focus for this year. Interested parents and teachers can expect opportunities to review many curricula currently available and to have a voice in the selection process.
