GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - At 60 members between 9th and 12th grade, Gridley High School’s Interact Club is one of GHS’s largest and fastest growing groups.
The club, Rotary International’s service club for young people, was just recently founded at the high school. It requires students to commit to 12 hours of community service per semester.
Since its formation, the Gridley Interact Club has engaged in over 500 hours of community service. Representatives of the Club, Interact’s Secretary Alexia Gutierrez and Publicity Chairman Addison Busch, told the Gridley Rotary their Fall semester service included peer mentoring, campus cleanup, rotary float building, blanket donations, hours dedicated to the Wilson School Beautification project and serving Thanksgiving Day Meals.
For their spring service projects, Interact plans to help with Wilson Elementary’s STEM Night, Wilson’s Garden, and a school-wide service week. In March, they plan to attend a college tour in the Bay Area.
Other Club officers include President, Navaeh Marshall, Vice President Jose Magana Valle, and Treasurer, Nico Donati. The Club is advised by Ms. Liz Ayon and Rotary Ambasador Margaret Hughes.
