GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley’s downtown just got a little sweeter with the grand opening of bakery, Panaderia Meneses.

The bakery, run by husband-and-wife team Mario Meneses and Maria Castaneda, held its grand opening and ribbon cutting Saturday, March 19th at 3:00 pm. There was quite a turnout, including community members, members of the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce, Gridley’s City Administrator, and local religious dignitaries.

The Panaderia’s opening was blessed by Catholic priests, including the entire building and those in attendance that were open to extra blessings.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to an array of the bakery’s homemade breads and sweets, including, but not limited to, donuts, muffins, croissants, specialty breads such as bolillos, and pasteles. Panaderia Meneses plans to add coffee and hot chocolate to their menu and would like to see the addition of a deli and small market later in the year.

Head baker, Mario Meneses, has been refining his craft for nearly 40 years, and word of his delectable goods is spreading quickly throughout town. Opening weekend, the Panaderia saw heavy business and is hopeful that it will continue.

The family-run bakery is open 7 days a week from 6:00 am-6:00 pm and is located at 1045 Hazel Street. For special orders, including Dulce de Leche cakes and more, please contact the bakery at (650) 518-2428.
