Gridley, CA (MPG) – With a large roster of 18 players, the Sycamore boy’s 6th grade basketball team finished their season undefeated.
Sycamore went a perfect 9-0, playing against teams from the Marysville, Sutter and Yuba City areas.
Head coach Andrew Perez said that his team listened well to his instructions and applied them on the court which led to success.
“They just picked up what I was putting down,” Perez said. “I’ve coached at the high school level a lot. I don’t think I’ve ever had a group that was so coachable.”
Some standout players that were key in Perez’s rotation include Cornelius Hospers, Israel Garcia, James Woolery, Michael Romo and Trey Rosser.
“They did a lot of work for us (and) were a big reason we won games,” Perez said. “I hope that I get to coach them again at some point. But overall, it was a great, fun season. The kids were super hard working. They just took it seriously and it worked out for them.”
