GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - In 2020 while school activities were curtailed and social interactions for students were limited, Gridley High School FFA started a new community service project. FFA students decided to make blankets for those in need. The blankets made by students in 2020 were donated to Esplanade House in Chico. Esplanade House “provides transitional housing and intensive supportive services for homeless families with children.”
This year, 2021 this project is going strong again for FFA students under the student leadership of Calista Fox and Nico Donati with guidance from teacher/adviser Matt Reed. This worthy project by young leaders has been supported by the community of Gridley and local businesses such as Gridley Packing and Gridley Country Ford as well as others. Donations for this project can be given to Gridley High School FFA blanket project. This year the hand-made blankets will be donated to Community Action Agency whose mission is to “provide hope to people struggling with poverty to help them become more self-sustaining.” This community project is an annual December project for GHS FFA.
