LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - On October 16, 2021, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a Instagram/Facebook Post that had statements eluding to a possible shooting that was going to occur at Live Oak Middle School on Monday, October 18, 2021.   Sutter County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Sutter County Probation Department began investigating the potential threat.  During the investigation, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and the Sutter County Probation Department also established a plan to have extra patrol staff and probation officers on scene at both Live Oak Middle School and Live Oak High School on the 18th.

On October 18th, 2021 the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office was able to determine the IP address of the Instagram/Facebook Post which lead to the arrest of a 13-year-old juvenile.  The juvenile’s parents were contacted, cooperated with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and Sutter County Probation Department.  A consent search was conducted of the juvenile’s residence where the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office located the cell phone used to create the Instagram/Facebook Post. No weapons were located.  The juvenile was arrested and will be booked into juvenile hall on numerous charges including terrorist threats.

Sheriff Barnes and the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the community for bringing this to our attention, Live Oak School staff for all their help, and to the Sutter County Probation Department for assisting in the extra patrol coverage including the arrest of the juvenile.
