COVID-19 Pfizer Booster Dose Available for Certain Groups

BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Effective immediately, the CDC has authorized a COVID-19 Pfizer booster dose for certain groups of people, to be administered at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series (after the second dose):

(Should get a booster) Persons 65 years and older; (Should get a booster) Residents of long term care settings; (Should get a booster) Persons aged 50-64 years with underlying medical conditions; (May get a booster) Persons aged 18-49 years with underlying medical conditions; (May get a booster) Persons aged 18-64 at increased risk because of occupational or institutional setting; Click to learn more about qualifying medical conditions: tinyurl.com/jt8cebmw

Butte County Public Health supports these recommendations made by CDPH and the CDC and encourages residents who are at highest risk for COVID-19 to receive a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot to help increase their protection.

Those who qualify may get a Pfizer booster dose in Butte County anywhere the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine is currently available, including local pharmacies and community vaccination clinics. No documentation will be required.

At this time, booster doses for Moderna and J&J have not been approved by the CDC.
