GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Something new is popping-up in Gridley this week, and although it will just be open a few days, Barn Gypsy Vintage Pop-Up Boutique plans to stay.

For owner and operator, Lynn Williams, the vintage shop is not the first she’s managed - her previous store, 317 Upscale Resale, was located in downtown Marysville. Williams found her way to the area via Beale Air Force Base, her husband in the service and she, an airplane mechanic.

The mechanic turned collector, has dedicated the last 7 years to scouring and searching for eye-catching pieces. She found that the “Pop-Up” style boutique allowed her more time to hunt and travel, as many of her pieces have come from out of state. She has found many unusual pieces in California hot spots known for the quirky and luxurious, such as the Bay Area, and has even brought items back from Germany, where she and her husband were once stationed.

As for her new store in downtown Gridley, Barn Gypsy, Williams has curated her one-of-a-kind wares with a keen eye, showcasing them in unusual and artistic displays. “I like unique things. I don’t like ordinary!” she says, her southern accent popping through. “I have some things that are dinged or dented, but I price them accordingly. Because in my house, I don’t care if things are dinged,” it adds character.

Williams was inspired to open her store here after visiting and shopping at Gridley’s own Hazel Street Vintage & Co., a pop-up boutique that has become a must-shop favorite of Gridley and out-of-the-area customers. After walking around and getting a feel for Gridley, Williams says that she fell in love. “I like this town…. I really like it. It has that small town feel…you even see people sitting out on the benches at night….and playing chess in the park.”

Thus, Gridley is now home to Barn Gypsy, Vintage Pop-Up Boutique, that specializes in vintage luxury goods, mid-century modern and modern chic pieces, handcrafted industrial pieces (her friend welds custom pieces) and retro furnishings. “Everything in here is unique. Every item was handpicked – and I never buy anything in bulk,” says Williams and she assures her prices are affordable, “I want this to be a fun shopping experience!”

Barn Gypsy plans to coordinate its schedule with that of the Hazel Street Vintage & Co., pop-up boutique, opening the first Thursday-Saturday of each month and debuts this week, Thursday September 9th.

Come on down to 556 Kentucky Street this week and discover your favorite new piece at Barn Gypsy. Doors open for the first time at 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. For more information and for hours, please visit Barngypsy.com or call 530-797-2005.
