Kids' Choir Begins

Sep 01, 2021 12:00AM ● By Gridley Christian Church

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - “A Star is Born” is the Christmas musical the Kids’ Choir will be preparing for its December 5th performance. Every Tuesday beginning September 7th kids ages four and older will be rehearsing from 3:30-5:00 PM at Gridley Christian Church which is located on the corner of Hazel and Washington Streets next to Sav-Mor Market.

This fun and meaningful musical is centered on a children’s Christmas TV production.  Mr. Spielman, the director, deals with an egotistical star Sophia Spaghetti who has been hired to play the part of Mary in the production.  She says that she can act humble if she is given enough money. But can she be humble enough to play the part as it should be played?  Will the production have to be cancelled? The children try to help Sophia understand that Jesus is the “Star” of the Christmas show. Speaking parts and solos will be given out.  Costumes, lights, drama, choreography, and music are all combined to give children a rich Christian musical theater experience.

Each Tuesday will include rehearsal time together as a group with vocal warmups, learning the songs, practicing simple movements, and learning the sign language that teaches an important memory verse that builds character and faith.  We also separate into two smaller groups for an interesting Bible lesson and yummy snacks before we meet together again for another group rehearsal.

Participation in this program is free.  Each family will also be given a free CD in order to learn the music at home.  Come join us.   Singing for Jesus is fun!  Call Bonnie at (530)933-9845 to register your child.
