GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – The City of Gridley is preparing for the 2021-2022 Budget and is planning to hold study sessions to incorporate public feedback.

Finance Director for the City of Gridley, Elisa Arteaga polled the Gridley City Council on which dates would work best for preliminary budget study sessions to review operating and preliminary capital budgets, to receive comment from the public and staff and to further understand operating challenges and the city’s fiscal condition.

Arteaga shares that this year, the city will be using a 7-point system to strategically plan each budget “internally within departments down to finance budget teams.” This includes meeting with the internal budget team, meeting with each individual department and department head, along with meeting with the finance director and city administrator. The refinement of each department’s budget throughout the 7-step system culminates with the final draft of the 2021-2022 budget being brought before council for a vote.

Dates for the preliminary budget study sessions were approved by Council and have been set for Thursday, June 17th and Friday, June 18th at 6:00 pm.
