GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Sirens, Smoke, Crime, Pandemics, Emergencies and Fire – whether it be law enforcement officers, EMS or firefighters, our first responders have been working overtime in our area. As a part of their Leadership Development Institute Meeting, Orchard Hospital Staff, Management, and Medical Specialty Center Staff carried out a few “sweet” community service projects for those on the frontlines.
On September 3rd, the group visited the Gridley Police Department, Gridley CALFIRE station and Butte County EMS bearing treats in the form of artisan sugar cookies and goodie boxes. The crews were beyond thankful. Gridley PD Lieutenant Quihuiz said, “It’s good to have continued support….” referencing the negativity currently broadcast on social-media and in the headlines surrounding law enforcement agencies. On a much lighter note he says it makes the officers feel really appreciated to find goodies waiting in their breakrooms. “The fastest way to a police officer’s heart…when days are long…is through food and coffee and snacks! It’s true!” Gridley CALFIRE Station 74 Captain Rob Kenyon echoed that sentiment: “We’re very thankful to have them come by and support us. We’ve been out on duty for a long time so… we’re very appreciative to have our neighbors do that for us. It’s really nice.”
Orchard Hospital CEO Steve Stark said, "It felt like a great time to thank our local police, fire, and ambulance crews for their support of not only Orchard Hospital, but for our entire community. We couldn't do what we do without the great men and women that work tirelessly everyday to make Gridley safer. On behalf of the entire Orchard Hospital staff and physicians - Thank you!"
