BIGGS, CA (MPG) - The Northern California Power Agency Commission (NCPA) has recently bestowed a prestigious award on Biggs’ own Roger Frith.
Frith, who has served the City of Biggs as a City Councilor, Mayor and Vice Mayor, was awarded the NCPA 2020 Spirit of Power Award. According to a press release, recipients of the award embody “the underlying principles of public power: a relentless commitment to serving local communities with safe, reliable and affordable electric service.”
The NCPA states that its “policies and values are not set by investors, but by locally elected or appointed officials who serve as the energy regulators in their cities, towns and districts that are members of the Agency. Because these individuals live and work in their communities and remain directly accountable for the utility service to their customers (and neighbors) they provide a knowledgeable, responsive and effective governing body.”
Frith reflects the mission of the NCPA he has been a member of since 2004, which was also when he was elected to Biggs City Council. During the years of his service, the NCPA Commission has dedicated the Lodi Energy Center (2012), added the City of Shasta Lake to its member cities and Frith himself has advocated at the state legislature and in Washington D.C. Frith’s dedication has grown as he has climbed through the ranks of the NCPA to become Commission Chair in 2018, a position he holds until his retirement this year.
The NCPA has a total of 16 members, including: The City of Biggs, Gridley, Ukiah, Redding, and Shasta Lake.
