GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Last week the CDC suggested that people throughout the United States of America use protective masks when they go into public places. As health professionals point out these masks do not protect against full exposure to the Covid 19 virus. The masks do keep the tiny droplets everyone breathes out from entering the common air space. The wearing of masks along with social distancing has been sited as successful ways to help slow down the transmission of the virus.
Looking forward to the probable community need for protective masks, the Gridley Lions Club is sponsoring a mask making project. Participating Lions are dusting off their old sewing skills for this project of love toward their community. These home-made masks are 100% pre-washed cotton in two layers. They can be washed and dried. The masks are made from donated cotton fabric in a variety of prints. Most of the prints are novelty prints so they are bright and fun. Some will bring a smile into one’s life. These prints are being distributed on a first come first serve basis, without giving personal choice for the print. These home-made-masks will be made and distributed throughout Gridley for free as long as there is fabric to make them.
If you are interested in having one of these masks for yourself and your loved ones please call: 530-680-5146 and leave a message with your name and contact number. Someone will call you back to take your order. If you are not interested but know others who would be, please let them know about this free mask distribution. Should this become so popular that the busy sewing folks become overwhelmed, be patient you might have to wait.
