GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley High School girls varsity basketball team secured their third straight Butte View League championship under, Coach Becca McCray, with a dramatic overtime road victory against Sutter High School on Thursday, February 13, 2020. The winner of the game would be crowned league champion, and the Lady Bulldogs left everything on the court to secure that title. Gridley outscored Sutter 11-2 in overtime to secure the victory 75-66.

Coach McCray said, “this season our goal was to focus on one game at a time during league. And we were successful in doing that. We are continuing that still through the playoffs. Playoffs are going to be tough, but like I said we will take one game at a time.” Coach McCray says her team's strength is in their defense, especially in important intense games. But she has five shooters on her team that pose a threat on the offensive side of the game.

The Lady Bulldogs secured a number three seed for the Northern Section California Interscholastic Federation Division 4 playoffs. As a number three seed, Gridley will have a first round bye and host a home game on Thursday, February 20, 2020 against the winner of Corning and Yreka.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the regular season 9-1 in league (20-8 overall). You can catch the Bulldogs in action for round 2 of the NSCIF Division 4 playoffs at Farmers Hall on Thursday, February, 20, 2020. Tip-off is 7:00PM. Good luck Lady Bulldogs!
