BIGGS, CA (MPG) - One week after the Biggs High School junior varsity football team defeated the Modoc Braves on Friday, November 1st, they hit the field once again at Del Kalbach Stadium against Weed for a shot at the JV Cascade Valley League championship.

When the Weed Cougars received the opening kickoff, Friday, November 8th, and returned it some 50 yards down to the Wolverines 20-yard line, head coach, Eddie Del Rio, knew the game wasn’t going to be an easy one. But the Wolverine defense was too much for the Cougars, and they forced a turnover on downs without giving up the score. On the first play of offense, Blake Chandler broke to the outside for 33-yards down to midfield to get the momentum started. After driving down field, Ovian Cammon punched the ball in from 5 yards out for the first score of the game. From that point on, Biggs held the lead until the final seconds ticked down for the 44-21 victory.

Cammon led the team with four touchdowns on 112 yards in the game. Deacon Flores led the offensive rushing game with 175 yards on 12 carries and one score. Blake Chandler and Nathaniel Jackson each had over 80 rushing yards in the game.

For Eddie Del Rio, this is his first league championship as the JV head coach for Biggs High School football, and the third consecutive league championship for the JV football program. The team finished with a 5-1 league record (6-2 overall).

The Biggs High School varsity football team finished the season with a 7-1 league record (9-1 overall) to secure a first round bye in the Division V playoffs. The Wolverines’ first playoff game will be Friday, November 22nd, at home against the winner of Maxwell and Los Molinos starting at 7:00 PM.
