LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - Early last Thursday morning, a pack of Lions was seen invading the Luther Elementary School playground. To the delight of the Luther Tiger Cubs, the Live Oak High School Seniors donned their graduation cap and gowns early and paraded around the campus, doling out high-fives and smiles to their young admirers.
The Senior Parade at Luther Elementary has become a touching and sentimental tradition over the last 5 years. Many graduates attended Luther as children – as they look to close the chapter on their Senior year, visiting their roots is a reminder of how far they have come while simultaneously inspiring future generations of graduates. Nearly 640 elementary school students lined the playground handing out awards, handmade notes of congratulations and ribbons to the seniors as they passed by.
Luther Elementary School Principal Parveen Bains addressed the graduates saying, “Many years ago you roamed these hallways; you worked hard in these classrooms; you hugged these teachers; and you played on this playground. Today, you stand before us in your caps and gowns, and we couldn’t be prouder of all you have accomplished. This is why we do what we do.”
With her son Arjun Bains, amongst the 2019 Graduates, she continued, “This year I saw first-hand what is expected of you as a senior at Live Oak High School. Let me say, I am beyond impressed with how this final year at LOHS both culminates your time at our district and fully prepares you for the next chapter of your life. We have no doubt that you are ready to get out there, pave your path and be a success story. You got this!”
Graduates were serenaded in a special musical number prepared by the 4th grade choir led by Ms. Morrison. Each Senior then took the mic, introduced themselves and shared their plans after graduation, namely what school they were attending.
As the event ended, LOHS Graduates began to chant “Luther! Luther!” while a round of applause and cheers broke out. Graduates broke away to meet and thank their previous teachers and little admirers once more before moving on towards their futures.
