GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley High School Seniors spent the week blowing off some steam before the long grind of finals week and the pinnacle of their educational careers, graduation.
Many GHS Seniors decided to extend their already long Memorial Day weekend by taking advantage of Senior Skip-Day – only to be lured back by the promise of fun in the sun on Wednesday May 29th for Senior Picnic Day.
This year, the class of 2019 gathered in the halls of their soon-to-be alma-matter in the early morning, toting beach towels, sunscreen and shades in readiness for their trip to the Forebay Aquatic Center in Oroville – site of Senior Picnic Day. Students spent the day floating and canoeing about the afterbay, enjoying lunches and camaraderie while the GHS media class provided tunes.
On Thursday evening, May 30th, Gridley Seniors and their families were celebrated for their outstanding performances throughout the year at GHS Awards Night, an invitation only event. Seniors were awarded academic letters and local scholarships, and the official announcement of the Class of 2019 Valedictorians and Salutatorians were made. This year’s graduation class holds the distinction of having 12 Valedictorians and 5 Salutatorians, the names of which were kept under wraps until that night.
Gridley graduation is set for the evening of June 7th at 7:30 pm. The event has been moved from the fairgrounds due to excessively wet conditions. Instead, Gridley High will celebrate their Graduates from the Class of 2019 at the GHS Bone Yard Football Field.
