GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Not many reach the milestone of 100 years old, but local Gridley man, Jesse Chandler, exceeded it as he celebrated his 103 birthday on Monday, March 25. Chandler, a fixture within the Gridley and Live Oak communities, taught industrial arts at Live Oak High School for 19 years, instructing students in wood shop, mechanical drawing, and drivers education. He taught Violin lessons privately and was the member of many choir groups. Chandler served as a Navy SeaBee during World War 2 and remains proud of his service. Many know him from his active membership of the LDS Church. Chandler is the patriarch of 5 generations and currently resides at Townsend House in Chico.
