Multiple Structures Burned in Sheldon Fire

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – On the evening of Friday, June 27, both CAL FIRE Butte Unit and Gridley Fire Department crews responded to calls of a fire on Sheldon Avenue, Gridley.

A large blaze ignited on a property situated near the junction of Sheldon and Highway 99.

According to a CAL FIRE Butte Unit social media post, two storage containers and an outdoor enclosure sustained major damage. Crews were able to keep the flames out of a large shop located nearby.

According to Rob Kenyon at Station 74, the coordinated attack by local fire crews and assisting resources resulted in an aggressive knock-down of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
