Yreka pitcher Cody Hoff pitched well for the Miners in Saturday's CIFNS Division II Championship game. Hoff kept the Miners in the game for five innings before running out of gas in the sixth inning as the Miners fell 5-0 to the Sutter Huskies.

With a general consensus that proposed adjustments to the City's sewer rates were not fair, Biggs City Council members did not approve an increase at their May 8, 2012 regular Council meeting.
Noting that current rates are unreasonable in some cases, audience members pointed out the fact that currently Sunwest Rice Mill only pays $57.04 compared to the elementary and high schools who pay $140.10, which is based on student population.
