GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Gridley Junior Varsity Softball is making their dreams come true this season.
Over the weekend of March 16, the JV girls had the opportunity to play at the Big League Dreams tournament held in Redding, CA.
Head Coach Amber Mendenhall says that they were 7-0 until the championship game beating Lassen, University Prep, Shasta, Corning, Trinity and Yreka schools until their loss to Las Plumas. “It was a nail-biter!” she says.
Coach Mendenhall and Assistant Coach Tera Tuttle say that they were both “very excited for this season” and look forward to what their team will do.
As JV Softball charged ahead, they would continue to do well, beating the Woodland Wolves and Red Bluff Spartans, but would fall to the Sutter Huskies, Corning Cardinals and Oroville Tigers for an overall record of 10-and-3 at the time of this article.
As the season continued, the team would see some changes. JV’s Avery Mendenhall and Kaydence Pruitt have moved up to Varsity, and currently, top pitcher Tati Rivero is out with an injury. With those changes, Coach Mendenhall says this coming week may be a bit of a challenge for her team.
The ladies will take on the Orland Trojans on Tuesday, April 23 and the Las Plumas Thunderbirds on Thursday, April 25.
