These little astronomy lovers donned special eyewear to get a glimpse of their first eclipse.

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Across the nation, people of all ages came out to watch the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. Although our area was out of the total solar eclipse path, viewers were still able to see a bite taken out of the sun by the moon with eclipse viewing glasses. The partial eclipse was a great source of excitement for many.

In California, action began roughly around 10:15 a.m. and reached its peak an hour later around 11:15 a.m.

This was the second solar eclipse that the United States has recently experienced, with one occurring in 2023, and is reportedly the first total solar eclipse since the year 2017. The next total solar eclipse is not expected to be seen by those in North America until the year 2044.
