GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - With Red Suspenders Day (RSD) a little over a month out, the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce wants to remind you to get your arrest warrants in.

Each year as part of the RSD festivities, the fundraiser coined “Unjustice Court” is held the Friday before the main event. This year it will fall on Friday, May 17.

Unjustice Court asks families, friends and even coworkers to turn in names of people they would like to see “arrested” in the name of fun. The day of Unjustice Court, our local firemen and women join in the search, executing these warrants for arrest and bringing in the “criminals” to be sentenced by the court.

Court and the jail is typically found at downtown’s Rotary Park, where the “judge” assigns a bail amount based on the person’s “crimes.” Criminals are booked and thrown into a makeshift jail where they dine on free pizza and beverages until bail is posted or they serve their time. It really is all fun and games.

All bail money goes to the Chamber, as it is one of the few fundraisers they have that solely supports their group.

To turn in an arrest warrant contact the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce at 530-846-3142 or drop by their office at 890 Hazel St., Gridley.
