Make Crime Illegal Again!
Apr 03, 2024 04:53PM ● By Seti LongGRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - A petition currently circulating to hold criminals and repeat offenders accountable for their actions is being endorsed by area law enforcement officials and political leaders.
The petition that hopes to address organized crime and retail theft, help address and control the fentanyl crisis in our area, prioritize mental health and support drug treatment programs in the hopes of reducing criminal activity is being supported by Butte County Sheriff Cory Honea, Assemblyman James Gallagher, U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa, Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey and Butte County Supervisors Tod Kimmelshue, Bill Connelly, Peter Durfee and Doug Teeter and Dominique Belza of Free California.
Butte County small businesses and community leaders hope that this petition will support the Homelessness, Drug Addiction, and Theft Reduction Act and that area small businesses and community members will put pen to paper to create safer communities.
Drive-thru petition signing will happen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the following locations: Gridley – Ace Hardware: 1626 State Highway 99, Oroville – Ace-Better Deal Exchange: 1845 Mitchell Ave., and Chico – Ace Hardware: 231 W. East Ave.
