The East Coast also ranked high for singles using the same metrics: economics, recreation and dating opportunities. Cities like Portland, Maine, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington, Rochester, N.Y., Richmond, Va. and Burlington, Vt. ranked toward the top of the "best cities for singles" list.

If you're looking to meet other single people, the city with the highest percentage of singles is Detroit, and Fremont, Calif. has the lowest percentage of singles. Gilbert, Ariz. has the most online dating opportunities and Brownsville, Texas has the fewest.
