It was a great day for golf on
Monday of this week at Peach Tree Holf and Country Club in Marysville as the Gridley Educational Foundation held its annual golf outing.
The event, which aims to raise money for scholarships and help the Gridley schools with supplemental funding to help with other needs, drew dozens of golfers on a late spring day.
Last year’s event saw temperatures in the 100s and some participants called it quits early.
Conditions were much better this year.
Most of the participants have some connection with the Gridley schools, and the event is a reason to get your buddies together, enjoy a round, and help the local schools at the same time.
That was the case for Dan Howell, Dennis Pooler and George Onyett, who were teamed with a Gridley Herald reporter for the day and played pretty well, ending their round at nine over par.
Pooler was part of the founding of the Gridley Educational Foundation and makes it a point to get to as many of the golf fundraisers as possible.
