Cooper Roberts has been called to serve a two-year full-time mission to the Independence Missouri Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mission boundaries include the northwest corner of Missouri, and the northeast corner of Kansas, including all of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
The Independence area is important to early LDS history, including the three-month imprisonment of Joseph Smith in nearby Liberty Jail and the Mormon War of 1838. Independence was also known as “Queen City of the Trails,” because it was the departure point for the Oregon, California, and Santa Fe Trails.
Cooper will speak to the Liberty Ward on Sunday, February 25 at 10 a.m., at the church at 1259 French Avenue. He will report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, and learn to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His parents are Bruce and Dawn Roberts.
