High school is all about making memories.

And for a couple of Biggs High School seniors, a few more memories were added to the scrapbook last Friday night.

The school held its annual basketball homecoming festivities in between the games of a Biggs-Quincy basketball doubleheader last Friday night.

Paola Patron-Castro, a member of the girls basketball team, and Daniel Velasquez, a member of the boys basketball team, were voted King and Queen by the student body.

The vote came as a surprise to Paton-Castro,

“I really wasn’t expecting it,” Patron-Castro said. She’s been on the basketball team all four years of high school and looking forward to continuing her education at Butte College next year.

Velasquez, meanwhile, already had some special memories, including being a member of the 2016 Biggs football team that won a CIF Northern Section Division 5 championship and went to the state playoffs that year.

Now Velasquez has one more memory to look back on and smile.

Velasquez also said his selection as Homecoming King came as a surprise.

“It’s a special memory,” Velaqsquz said after the Wolverines’ loss to Quincy.

Velasquez also looks forward to heading on to Butte College next year, where he’ll study kinesiology with an eye toward becoming a physical therapist.

Both students had scant time to get cleaned up and head to a Homecoming Dance that wrapped to the night’s fun.
