Hello everyone, my name is Samantha Waterbury and I will be attending Sycamore Middle School this year as a sixth grader. I am very excited about this and so that is why I am writing this letter. For the last six years I have been looking forward to going to Woodleaf Camp with my classmates. This year it is being called Shady Creek Science Camp, but it is still the same camp, just in a different place. Both of my brothers went, and I remember them talking about it when they came home.
Every other year, our school has been able to help send everyone to camp, but because of all the new budget cuts they are not able to do it this year. That is why we need your help. We are going to be having fundraisers all school year to raise money so that everyone has a chance to go. Since this is a science camp, we will get a chance to learn things we would not learn in a classroom, so it is not just a fun trip.
My parents told me that this camp has been going on for over 30 years. Maybe you had a chance to go when you were in the sixth grade and can understand why I would like my entire class to get to go. We know it will be had work to raise enough money but we know it will be worth it for our class and for sixth graders in the future.
