A Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel for Geraldine Mae Davis, 71 of Gridley, California. She passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at her residence in Gridley of natural causes.
Geraldine was born September 1, 1938 to Gerald & Ruby Palmer in Chico, California. She and her husband Alvin, owned and operated the Gridley Home Center. She was also a homemaker, loving mother, grandma and great-grandmother. She was Charter member of the Gridley Lioness club, having been a member for 18 years. She served on the Board of Directors, serving as Secretary and Treasurer and was named Lioness of the Year. She helped the group with the dog trials held at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area many years and helped the Gridley Lions club for several years with the annual Easter Egg Hunt, eye clinic for children and the bingo booth at the Butte County Fair. She also donated her time to help with the Gleaners. She loved the mountains, crocheting, knitting, making wedding cakes and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald & Ruby Palmer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Alvin D. Davis Sr. of Gridley, CA; 2 daughters: Loretta & husband Ellis Arnold of Berry Creek, CA and Catheryn & husband David Hammon of Biggs, CA; and 1 son, Alvin D. & wife Jane Davis Jr. of Gridley, CA. She is also survived by 1 sister, Janice Lepper & husband Charlie of Orland, CA; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Roy Lemos, Geraldine’s nephew will officiate at the services.
Interment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
Contributions to the Gridley Lions Club are suggested by the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
