A Graveside Service will be held Monday, February 22, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery for Jack Behr, 82, of Gridley, California.  He passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010, at his residence of natural causes.

Jack was born March 21, 1927 in Chico, California.  He was a life long resident of Butte County and former owner of Behr’s Market in Gridley.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.  He was known for his strong work ethics and keeping up with local and world events from reading several newspapers.  He was active in his early years on many bowling leagues.  He was a member of the Loyal Order Of Moose, Gridley 1594 and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Clarice Behr, his parents and one brother, Sunny Behr.

He is survived by three sons: Ronnie Behr and companion Irene of Great Falls, CA, Randy Behr and Russell Behr both of Gridley, CA;  and three daughters: Karen Bailey and husband Calvin of Gridley, CA, Kathy Womack and husband Rocky of Willows, CA and Karla Cody and husband Tom of Chico, CA.  He is also survived by two brothers: Ernie Behr of Chico, CA and Paul Behr; and one sister-in-law, Myrtle Yandell of Clovis, CA; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel from 5 – 8 p.m.

Pastor Michael Behr will officiate at the services.

Interment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.

Contributions to the Crippled Children’s Society and the Hearing Impaired Foundation are suggested by the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
