A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 11a.m. at First Baptist Church, 100 Vermont Street, Gridley, for Ora Mae Longacre, 88, of Gridley, California. She went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, February 8, 2010, at her son’s residence in Arvin, California.
Ora Mae was born on July 4, 1921, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to William Bowen and Sophnonia Ella Davis. She had resided in Gridley since 1939 and then married Carl Andrew Longacre in January of 1941. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gridley where she devoted many years of service to the church nursery ministry. She was a loving mother and wife, an avid quilter, gardener, and outdoor enthusiast.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Longacre; two brothers and two sisters: Ovid Davis, Bill Davis, Jane Parnell and Ruth Burch.
She is survived by two sons: Carl Leon Longacre of Bakersfield, CA and Clinton Dale Longacre of Emporia, Kansas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters: Myrtle Price and Irene Sample, both of Gridley, CA.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 15, 2010 from 5– 8 p.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
Pastor Rick Cunningham of First Baptist Church, Gridley will officiate at the services.
Interment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
