Vinetta May (Nettie) Cameron, 89, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2017 in Fort Bragg.
Nettie was born in Gridley, California on October 23, 1928 to Jim and May Wheeler. She lived in Gridley until she married Jim Cameron in 1945 and moved to Burbank, California, later moving to Oroville for one year and in 1954 to the Sacramento Valley. They settled in Fort Bragg in 1965 where she lived for 52 years. She was a cook for many years at ‘The Wharf’ restaurant in Noyo Harbor, south of Fort Bragg, and was very active in the Fort Bragg Seventh Day Adventist Church and in T.O.P.S. Nettie was known for her optimism, generosity and love for family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Nettie was preceded in death by her parents Jim and May Wheeler, husband of 38 years James Cameron, brothers William Wheeler and James “Jig” Wheeler, children Bob Cameron and JoAnn Miranda, of Fort Bragg, and Jerry Cameron, of Biloxi, Mississippi.
She is survived by her son Rodger (Anne) Cameron, of Berlin, Germany; sisters: Helen Taylor, of Yuba City, Eva Bowser, of Petaluma, Dorothy (W.F.) Little, of Gridley; nine grandchildren,numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Sherwood Oaks for the loving care they gave Nettie in her final years. Nettie’s ashes were released over the Pacific near Fort Bragg.
