Saturday, October 22, 2011, will mark the second annual Tickled Pink Breast Cancer Walk in Gridley, planned by sisters Tamie Rodke, Michele Dewsnup, Sam Kilian and Jayne Barrow in the name of Breast Cancer and Digital Mammography in Gridley.
The sisters are visiting local businesses and service organizations to get the word out and ask for donations for the raffle.
All individuals, organizations and clubs who donate $250 or more toward the “Tickled Pink 2” Breast Cancer Walk will achieve “sponsor” status and have their names printed on the back of the t-shirt.
This year's walk will again include t-shirts, sponsors, a huge raffle, light breakfast and balloon launch in memory of a loved one. There will even be a price for the largest group.
Registration is $26, which includes the cost of a t-shirt and forms are available at The Wishing Corner, Ace Hardware, Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital, the entry blank in The Gridley Herald or online at www.tickledpinkbreastcancerwalk.com
The walk will begin at the Donald E. Sullivan Medical Specialty Center at 284 Spruce Street with registration from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and a breakfast of fruit and muffins.
The dozens of wonderful raffle items will be on display inside for everyone to view and purchase tickets and winners will be announced during the closing ceremony. All Cancer survivors are asked to participate in the closing ceremony which will include pink balloons that can be purchased during registration for those who would like to honor a loved one who has lost the battle against breast cancer with the balloon launch between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. Cancer survivors, “The Gridley Faces of Hope,” will be presented with a medallion to wear around their neck.
The walk will again be through downtown Gridley at 9:45 and end at 10:30 with contest and raffle winners announced at that time.
Closing ceremony will be around 11 a.m., and just like last year all proceeds will be donated to BGMH Digital Mammography.
