Monday started out like any other day, after having lunch with friends, I decided to go join my friend Ravie Aujla at the filming of a Hollywood movie just six blocks from our office. I was greeted by Ravie who took me to the tall directors chairs, just like the ones you see cast and crew using in movies and television shows and more importantly, large trucks and tons and tons of movie production equipment spanning the last block of Hazel Street to Highway 99.

As I watched the filming of "General Education," sitting behind Ravie's brother, Jaz Kalkat I was hooked and didn't want to leave. All of the things you see on television and hear such as, "Quiet on the set," "Action," and "Cut," could be heard from Producer Tom Morris, as I watched the scene being shot several times.

Chris Sheffield stars as Levi Collins, who is set to go to Forestwood University on a full ride tennis scholarship, but there is just one thing, he is one credit short of graduating and has not told his parents. Levi must pass summer school behind his parents backs before the tennis scholarship is revoked. The school scenes are shot at none other than Ravie and Jaz's alma mater, Gridley High School. Now, at this point, I better mention Jag Kalkat, another friend who will let me know if I don't mention what a huge help he was to his brother and Pelican House Productions.

Jaz and friends Tom Morris, Elliot Feld, and Kevin Liang all graduated from Brooks Institute one year ago and have come a long way with their first movie being filmed in time for the Sundance Festival.

Jaz has written and directed various shorts over the years, including a project entitled, “Moonlighters.” He was the co-writer for “Ships Wrecked Cove,” and directed many internationally acclaimed music videos.

Imagine my delight in being joined by Actor Larry Miller, who plays Levi's father as I watched the filming. I of course had to tell him how much I love "Pretty Woman," the part I most know him for, the funny salesman, Mr. Hollister in 1990. He of course also starred in Blonde Ambition, Get Smart, Valentines Day and 10 Things I Hate About You."

Janeane Garofalo is equally as nice and I remember her from many shows such as Law and Order, Saturday Night Live and the Larry Sanders Show besides Seinfeld, and the movies "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" and "Sweethearts." She currently stars in Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.

The filming on Monday was done at Hazel and Haskell Streets at the Brown Home both indoors and outdoors. If you visit www.PelicanHouseProductions.com you can see video already done in the first three days that was shot at Gridley High School.

Others starring in this movie are Elaine Hendrix, Bobby Campo, Maiara Walsh, McKaley Miller and Skylan Brooks. Arizona Cardinal Kerry Rhodes also stars in this feature film.

On Friday, (today) a call is out for 200 extras to be filmed attending graduation ceremonies at the Butte County Fairgrounds which will begin at 10:30 a.m. If you are willing to spend four hours appearing as an extra, please go to the fairgrounds. It is a lot of fun and such a great experience for everyone to be a part of.

It has been a boon for the area to have 80 extra people here each day for a week so far spending money, whether it be with food, fuel for the big trucks, you name it.

Thank you Pelican House Productions for choosing Gridley. It is great to see the video featuring Gridley High School and now the Brown Home and will be great fun for all to see when it is all said and done.
