Gridley City Council members voted unanimously to adopt a resolution opposing the proposed PG&E "New two-thirds requirement for local public electricity providers" Tuesday night.

The California Attorney General approved the initiative to be placed on the June 2010 ballot which would seriously impact cities such as Biggs and Gridley. The initiative would require a public electricity provider to obtain a two-thirds voter majority of voters within the existing Gridley (or Biggs) municipal utility territory and two-thirds of the voters in any proposed expanded territory any time prior to expending funds for expansion or construction of facilities outside current boundaries or to establish service within existing boundaries.
