As part of a continuing effort to improve services and reduce expenses at Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital, the hospital has contracted with EmCare, the largest provider of Emergency Room physicians in the country, to provide coverage in the hospital Emergency Room. The new contract will go into effect March 5, 2009 which means EmCare will bring enormous resources, such as new technology and staff expertise to the hospital.
"EmCare will bring staff to review the Emergency Room systems and protocols and look for ways to enhance services in our emergency room," Interim Hospital Administrator John Cox stated.
"Fremont-Rideout Health Group and the the Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital Foundation are in agreement that transition to EmCare will improve the ER service provided to this community."
EmCare is in discussions with several current ER physicians to maintain status here and participate in the transition and improvements. The ER physican's contract is just one of the many avenues being looked at to save hundreds of thousands of dollars at the local hospital.
"We look at this new contract as an opportunity to save costs and improve the level of care in the ER," Cox stated.
