Chico – This summer’s wildfires effected most people in Butte County. The Butte Creek Brewery’s owners and employees would like to recognize the efforts of our emergency responders, whose true colors showed through during the early summer fire siege.  “We’re brewers, so the best way to show thanks is with our product,” stated Amy Coderre, Specialty Brand Manager for Butte Creek Brewery.  In this spirit, Initial Attack Fresh Hop I.P.A. was born, dedicated to the employees of CAL FIRE, California’s state-wide fire and rescue agency; it is a full-bodied, full-flavored, and locally produced  delicious choice.

After hearing there was a group of firefighters dedicated to the support of fallen firefighters, and that they had more responses this year than ever before, Butte Creek had found a worthy cause.  A portion of the proceeds from every drop of this year’s Initial Attack IPA, the name of the ale and a common firefighting term used for wildfires, will go to the CDF Firefighters Honor Guard.

“This year has been the most active for our Honor Guard. We are very appreciative of events like these,” said CDF Firefighters Honor Guard Director, Richard Cordova. “The Honor Guard is 100% funded by the employees of CDF Firefighters Union Local 2881 and donations.”

The brewery is taking it one step further by hosting a BBQ benefit for the group on Oct. 19, 2008. Several local sponsors have stepped up providing entrées, beverages, and of course there will be Initial Attack IPA. Live entertainment in the form of local band The Pub Scouts will be on hand as well as the CDF Firefighters Pipes and Drums(traditional bagpipe band).
