An Amber Alert issued Monday night for 14-year-old Elvia Flores was called off by Wednesday morning. Flores, a student at Live Oak High School, was reportedly abducted by four to five Hispanic males, but it’s now known she is with her boyfriend.

A friend of Flores had been picked up by a CHP officer in Orland on Monday and said the two were taken from outside Live Oak High School around 8:30 a.m. in a brown four-door sedan. She later awoke in a field in Orland and walked to a nearby gas station. Flores was still gone.

“As a school, we’re all concerned and want her to get home safe,” LOHS Principal Mat Gulbrandsen said on Tuesday.

Further investigation into the reported abduction revealed that she was not abducted, according to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department. It has been determined at this point that Flores was voluntarily picked up by an unknown person on Evans Reimer Road in Gridley, after she walked away from Live Oak High School after being dropped off by her mother. This has been substantiated by witness statements and text messages that were sent to acquaintances of Flores.
