Entering into a three year contract with the Yuba Sutter Arts Council in 2016, the City of Live Oak has seen several areas of town improved with the exterior mural project. Five murals were already in place and this weekend a special 48 hour mural marathon party was held on Broadway Street with five new murals completed on the south wall of the former Sunny's Market.

Starting Thursday, the artists seized the opportunity to have their artwork displayed once the work was done and they seemed to have a good time as people came by to check their progress.

The mural project has the support from the California Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and other agencies. The murals that were already in place depicted the farming history along with baseball players at the Little League field and the newest one on the side of the Live Oak Library on Highway 99.
