It’s always nice to get the league season off on a winning note.

The Gridley High School baseball team did just that on the road Tuesday afternoon, blowing out Orland, 13-0 to kick off the 2018 BVL slate in a contest halted after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Bulldogs (9-1-1 overall, 1-0 BVL)  pounded out 13 hits on the afternoon.

Lance Santerre led the way at the plate for Gridley, going 4-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs.  Triston Platter went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIS.

Gridley pitching continues to shine, as Lance Santerre allowed just three hits and no runs.

The Bulldogs turn around and face Orland again at home on Friday.

Biggs, meanwhile, advanced to the championship game of the Chester Tournament with a 10-5 win over Greenville and a 13-0 run-rule win over Burney.

In softball action, Gridley dropped a couple of games this week, falling to Orland, 12-10 on Tuesday and losing to Marysville, 9-5 on Wednesday.

Biggs softball, meanwhile, is 11-4 after winning the past six in a row. The last win for Biggs was a 13-0 victory over Chester in the championship of the Biggs Wolverine Tournament last week.
