The Gridley Lions Club is again holding the annual Lion’s Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31 at 11:00 am., sharp.

The egg hunt will take place in Gridley Vierra Park located at the south end of Washington Street. This annual event is open to all children ages zero to nine. There are five separate areas for children ages zero to one, two to three, four and five, six and seven, and eight and nine. There is also an adaptive area for any child who has difficulty. Parents are allowed to hunt with their children in the zero to one, two to three, and four to five areas, and will be given tickets for prizes that will be drawn in each of those areas immediately after the hunts are completed. Parents are NOT ALLOWED in the six to seven, and the eight to nine areas, until the hunt is over. Gold and silver eggs are placed in these older age areas and the child will have to turn in the prize eggs in order to receive their stuffed animal prize in exchange. Until all of those prize eggs are found older children or adults are not allowed in those areas on the north side of the park road. Lions members, and older volunteers will be available to help all children in the six to seven, and the eight to nine year old areas.

In case of rain the morning of the hunt, the eggs will be distributed to the children, along with the prizes, at the Sycamore School Gym located at Magnolia Street entrance, just south of the school. If it is not raining at 9 am, the time when the eggs are hidden, the hunt will take place in the park.

The Gridley Safeway has annually supported this Lions Project and again this year provided a gift certificate for the purchase of some of the four hundred dozen eggs.

This is an excellent time to come as a family to take pictures or have a picnic in the park after the hunt. Easter Bunnies will be available for pictures.

PARENTS ARE ASKED TO HELP THE LIONS WITH A CAN FOOD DRIVE BY BRINGING A NON PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM FOR EACH CHILD IN THE HUNT WHICH WILL BE DONATED TO OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK. This is also a good time to turn in any old glasses you may have so that the Gridley Lions can recycle them for distribution in other countries.
