Representatives of area service organizations have met with Butte County Fair CEO Steve Kenny the past few months to plan another exciting, worthwhile work day at the fairgrounds.

Saturday, April 28 is the day chosen to gather many volunteers to accomplish many hours of community service whether it be painting, building, planting, you name it!

This year the group has added some projects at Gridley High School including the locker rooms to be painted. Last year was very successful with many students of Sycamore and Gridley High helping and it is the hope of the planning committee to have this support again. Another possible project is the painting that needs to be done around the swimming pool.

Each year there are around 200 volunteers which means the projects generally are done by lunchtime, making it very obvious in a short amount of time that a lot of fun and progress has been made.

Some of the service organizations taking on more than one project usually start before the big day in order to try to finish that day but some jobs just take more manpower and more people than others.

The next planning meeting will be held Wednesday, March 28 at the fair board office at 11:30 a.m.

Kenny expressed his appreciation for the many people who came to help and the amount of work that was accomplished.

If you would like to volunteer to help beautify the Butte County Fairgrounds please note April 28 on your calendar for 8 a.m.
