Friends of the Yreka Library hosted an art reception on Saturday, March 10, for Yreka High School student artists, whose work is currently on display in the Yreka Library.

Ute Miklos, art teacher at Yreka High School, brought 83 pieces of student art to the library.

The art was hung by Rajiv and Marianne Hotek. The display is available through April.

Several members of the Yreka High School Vocal Ensemble sang for the reception guests.

Matthew Shadwell, Madelyn Ragan, Katie Stensether, Raina Freitas, Lily Johnston, Moa Ekblom and Marco Luquin sang “Dona Nobis Pacem,” “I’m Goin’ Home on a Cloud,” and “And So It Goes,” a song originally by Billy Joel and the song that landed them their upcoming trip to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Becky Mock, local artist and musician, played her Native American flutes for the rest of the evening.

The voice of each flute and the beautiful songs were much appreciated by the audience. The reception was well-attended, with over 50 guests enjoying the bounty of snacks, music and art.

The library is located at 719 Fourth Street in Yreka.
