The magical 2017-18 season lives on for the Gridley High School boys basketball team.

The Bulldogs are two wins away from a trip to the Golden1 Center after defeating Bradshaw Christian, 74-68 last Saturday night at Farmer’s Hall.

With the win, Gridley (25-6) advanced to the CIF Division V NorCal semifinals. The No. 2 Bulldogs were scheduled to host No. 3 Colfax Tuesday night.

Last Saturday night against Bradshaw Christian, the two teams were tied at 18 at the first stop, but Gridley pulled away in the second, leading 42-32 at halftime.

Gridley coach Chay Dake said it was a night when the Bulldogs needed other players to step up – and that’s exactly what happened.

Senior forward Tyler Little led the way for Gridley with 26 points and 12 rebounds, but fouled out with four minutes left in regulation.

One of the players who stepped up in the clutch for Gridley was freshman Grant Tull, who hit on 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to help seal the win. Tull had 17 points.

Wyatt Dreesmann added 13 points off the bench for the Bulldogs. Brian Wilkerson added eight and Randy Miller chipped in with six.

One game at a time, Dake said.

“We played well,” Dake said. “We’re getting different guys stepping up every night.”

In Colfax, the Bulldogs will see a team with a bit of a height advantage, as four Folfax starters are 6-4 or taller.

The game plan against Colfax won’t change much, Dake said.

“We’ll try to play good defense, keep them below 50 points, and get out and run some,” Dake said.

If the Bulldogs defeat Colfax, they’ll move on to Saturday night’s NorCal regional finals. The other side of the bracket featured a Tuesday night semifinal matchup between No. 1 Argonaut and No. 4 Urban.
