There’s nothing like high school sports to unite a community.
And that’s exactly what the Gridley High School boys and girls basketball teams have been doing all season.
It’s been a memorable season for both of the Bulldogs’ varsity hoop squads, both of which won the BVL championship.
The Bulldog girls fell a little short in their playoff run, bowing out in the quarterfinals.
But both teams have given each other great fan support all season, and that was the case again Wednesday night at Farmer’s Hall when the Bulldog boys defeated Lassen, 60-40 to move on to Friday night’s CIFI Northern Section Division 4 championship game at Butte College.
I’m sure it will be another great Gridley crowd all around as the Bulldogs make the short trek north to Oroville this Friday night.
High school sports are a part of the fabric of many small communities, and Gridley is no different.
The game is the place to be on Friday nights in the fall for football, and on Tuesday and Friday nights during the winter for basketball.
And with all four of the Bulldogs’ J.V. and freshman teams also winning their BVL titles this season, the future looks bright for Gridley basketball for the foreseeable future.
Good luck to the Bulldogs this Friday night against Corning!
