A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Gridley Moose Lodge for Charles “Chuck” Roberts, 86 of Gridley. He passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 in Oroville, California.

He was born on July 21, 1931 in Fresno, California, one of two children born to Morris and Norma Roberts. He was a longtime resident of Gridley, having moved from San Jose. As a young man he attended Cal Poly and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a devoted family man, enjoyed vintage cars, camping and boating. He was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America, and a member of the Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard ‘Rick’ Roberts, his sister Caroline Zink, and a nephew, Jim Zink.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Roberts, of Gridley; daughter, Susan (Dan) Jarratt, of Oroville; daughter-in-law, Jolyn (Mike) Roberts, of Wilder, Idaho; five grandchildren: Robert Jarratt, of Oroville, California, Michael Roberts of Boise, Idaho, Lisa Slattery, of Chico, California, Melissa Roberts, of Wilder, Idaho, Kelly Montgomery, of Boise, Idaho; 13 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Donna Hajduk, of Nevada City, California.

The family suggests contributions to the Gridley Moose Lodge Building Fund, Quota International of Gridley, or Gridley FFA. Inurnment will be at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
