It’s a great thing when one of your high school’s basketball teams wins its league title.

It’s even better when both of your teams accomplish the feat in the same year.

That’s exactly the case here in 2017-18, as both the Bulldogs’ teams wrapped up their regular-season BVL crowns this week.

And to make the league hardware even sweeter, they were both wrapped up against rival Sutter.

Tuesday night, it was the Bulldog boys winning on Sutter’s home floor, taking a relatively easy 73-37 win from the Huskies.

And at Farmer’s Hall, it was the Bulldog girls having a bit of a tougher time with Sutter, having to hold down the stretch for a 69-59 win.

Senior Tyler Little had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

And at Farmer’s Hall, it was junior Maddyson Tull with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Both Gridley boys coach Chay Dake and girls coach Becca McCray said they like where their teams are as the reguiar season wraps up this week.

The Gridley girls traveled to Wheatland Thursday night and the Bulldog boys host Wheatland Friday night. Both teams will then await a Saturday seeding meeting to determine their playoff schedule for next week as the CIF Northern Section playoffs open.

Dake said the two teams are feeding off each other’s success and supporting each other.

That’s apparent at games, where the boys form a loud cheer block at girls games and vice versa for the girls supporting the boys.

“It’s great to see us both having this kind of success,” Dake said.

Elsewhere this week, it was Live Oak’s boys falling to Colusa on Tuesday, 60-53, while the Lion girls edged Colusa, 46-44.

Leslie Fregoso led the way for Live Oak with 21 points. Dedra Foster added nine.

On the road, the Wolverine girls had an easy time with Esparto, winning 53-13, to improve to 18-7 overall on the 2017-18 season (7-1 league) while the Wolverine boys topped Esparto, 57-49 to improve to 6-19 on the season (2-6 league).
